Heather Watson

Heather is a Partner with McCullough Robertson Lawyers in the Nonprofit Group and is an approved Mediator. She has a particular interest in the legal issues associated with charitable organisations. She has acted for, and been a member of a wide range of community and charitable bodies for many years.

Heather’s experience in acting for nonprofit organisations includes: - establishing and restructuring of legal entities for charitable and nonprofit organisations - advising boards on risk and governance related issues - acquisitions and sales of aged care and retirement village facilities for charitable entities - establishing charitable foundations - advising on all aspects of philanthropic giving - ensuring legal compliance for the range of activities undertaken by nonprofit organisations, and - advising on requirements for tax exempt entities.

Heather is Chairperson of the Board of UnitingCare Queensland and a member of its Governance and Remuneration committee. She has strong connections with regional Queensland, having been a partner in a prominent North Queensland legal firm for 17 years. She is a regular speaker on legal topics to clients and professional groups.
